About

“God is in the slums, in the cardboard boxes where the poor play house. God is in the silence of a mother who has infected her child with a virus that will end both their lives. God is in the cries heard under the rubble of war. God is in the debris of wasted opportunity and lives, and God is with us if we are with them. “If you remove the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness, and if you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then your light will rise in darkness and your gloom will become like midday and the Lord will continually guide you and satisfy your desire in scorched places.” – Bono, 2006 National Prayer Breakfast (US)

I always hate these “About” sections… I find it pretty damn hard to define myself in a (fairly) limited scope. But if I had to, I’d put it as follows: Christian, student, graphic designer, advocate, humanitarian. Or at the very least a mixture of these.

I’m an optimist at heart. I firmly believe in the power that humanity holds to create good. I believe that humans are, at the core, good, and that injustice irks even the most cynical of people… even if they often refuse to admit it.

I believe that extreme poverty is the greatest injustice that this world faces today. The world has the resources to end extreme poverty within a generation, yet our leaders continually fail to follow up their rhetoric with action. But being the optimist that I am, I truly believe that it is still possible – and indeed, the world has no other choice.

I have a passion for graphic design, and although I know that there are so many better designers out there, it gives me an avenue of release when needed. I’ve been told I have my own distinctive style, more than once. I’m still trying to figure out if this is a good or bad thing. Maybe I should mix it up more…

I believe in God. It’s what drives me every day, and what constantly reminds me that I have been blessed, and will always have it better off than many within the world, purely because of the lottery of birth.

I study in Sydney, Australia – the most amazing city in the world (at least in my opinion), and I love living here. Melbourne is great, but Sydney still wins out. I was born on the South Coast, and grew up near beaches and tennis. I love both. I study Government and International Relations, but have been told I have an identity crisis when it comes to study, and that I should be doing Digital Media, Law, Journalism, Web Design, Political Economy … you get the idea. I would if I could fit it all in one lifetime!

Absolutely love U2. Enough said.

Oh, and house music. That pretty much sums up my music collection.

And that brings us back to the beginning. I can’t write these things in brief, and now I sound far too egocentric.

Now flee this page and read the actual blog! Trust me, it’s more interesting (and usually more important!)
